Former Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has officially declared his interest in contesting the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General elections.

Mbogo said he will not back down or step aside for any other candidate under any circumstances—recalling that in the 2022 polls, he was forced to shelve his ambitions, a move he vowed will not be repeated.

Speaking at Kadongo Grounds in Kisauni Sub county during a declaration rally that drew hundreds of supporters, Mbogo assured residents that his name will be on the ballot in 2027.

He dismissed concerns among his supporters over party politics or other hurdles that could block his bid, insisting that all systems were in place and his decision was final.

“I want to declare here today that I will not back down. I reassure my supporters and the people of Mombasa that, God willing, my name will be on the ballot come 2027. I will vie for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat,” he said.

Accountability and Change

The former Lawmaker accused the current county leadership of mismanaging resources, noting that despite Mombasa receiving significant funds from the national government, residents had seen little tangible development.

“Our 2027 vote will be to free ourselves from poor leadership, corruption, irresponsible governance, poor health services, poverty, and lack of economic empowerment,” he added.

Mbogo, who currently chairs the LAPSSET Board, said Mombasa residents’ hopes for transformation since the August 2022 elections had been dashed, urging voters to rethink their choices in 2027.

“Let us abandon the trial-and-error politics. We have seen and learnt enough from lazy leaders. If we want better education, quality healthcare, services for all, and economic empowerment for youth and women, we must vote for transformative change,” he noted.

Mbogo pledged to work closely with residents to shape a development agenda that reflects their needs. He further urged locals to prepare for the polls by registering as voters early.

“For us to achieve the change we have long desired, have your ID cards ready, register as voters, and on election day, turn out in large numbers to cast your votes for visionary leaders,” he appealed.
