Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has criticised Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir saying his three years of service have been “pathetic,”

According to Ali, Mombasa residents are not feeling a strong development orientated leadership, but instead a lot of public relations campaign without tangible development agenda.

Speaking in his Nyali constituency, The Lawmaker expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which Nassir has been running the county, depriving Mombasa dwellers the much needed development.

“The County government is marred by massive corruption right under Governor Nassir’s watch. The senate has been on and off his neck and in most cases the governor could not explain how he used the billions received from the national government,” noted Ali.

The second term Legislature, said Nassir has depicted high levels of incompetence and locals should ensure that he diligently serve them or they send him home come 2027 General elections.

“Nassir has been receiving over 13 billion shillings every financial year from the national government, if he has built even a single public toilet within the CBD let him show us. If he alternatively constructed a poultry makeshift house kindly let him show us because we see totally nothing in terms of development as Mombasa residents,” reiterated the MP.

Reckless construction

He further scoffed at Nassir for condoning reckless construction within the county that has led to perennial floods.

“Most parts of the county were not experiencing any floods during rains until recently after the mushrooming of constructions in every corner including on water ways. With such menace the governor is also asking for more money from the national government to manage the drainage system s and infrastructure, unbelievable,” he added.

a section of political leaders in Mombasa have been criticizing the Mombasa county Chief, stating that Mombasa county has been lagging behind development wise.

Recently Nassir appealed to the government to allow counties to manage the roads levy since it is the counties who understand the modalities of maintain the roads
