The ‘wantam’ (one term) slogan that indicates a single leadership term for President William Ruto has been termed as a threat to the country’s unity.

Political activist drawn from Changamwe Sub county states that the slogan is building mistrust among Kenyans and is slowly denting the image of the Kenya Kwanza government.

Led by political activist, Jeremiah Fwamba Simiyu, the activists urged Kenyans and especially the coastal people to shun the ‘wantam’ slogan and back President Ruto’s agenda of economically transforming the country.

According to Simiyu, there are no gains in denting the efforts President Ruto has invested to see the country transformed to a better nation habitable to all.

He reiterated the needs for Kenyans to unite and work with the president so that he achieves his development agenda.

“There are no gains by touting ‘wantam’, instead we should all assist the president so that he achieves his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and facelift our livelihoods,” stated Mr Simiyu.

He further urged Kenyans to shun divisive politics and safeguard their country from plunging to chaos amid heated 2027 political campaigns.

“We have seen what the opposition led by the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is capable of. We should remain vigilant so that our country does not become a history in Africa and beyond,” he added.

The political activist noted that the current economic projections indicate positive steps and major development progress to all Kenyans, further adding that divisive politics threatens such gains.

“The president has invested in political stability of the nation by embracing the broad-based government. He is currently developing the country’s infrastructure, health, agriculture among other critical development sectors in the country, please stop piling unnecessary pressure on him,” he added.

The youthful political activist is further urging youth in the country to shun politicians whose aim is to incite them to cause violence.

He said some youth in various parts of the country are benefitting from various government initiatives launched by the Kenya Kwanza government with an aim of uplifting the youth facing a myriad of economic challenges.

“Unemployment has been a major setback and complaint from our youth but causing violence will even deepen this issue. I urge the youth to back the government so that it continues initiating projects and programs geared towards uplifting our youth economically,” he added.
