Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has called on Mombasa residents to reject failed leaders and end tribal politics ahead of the 2027 polls, accusing Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s administration of neglecting key services.

Mombasa, Oct. 28, 2025 — Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has urged Mombasa residents to reject leaders who have failed to deliver on their promises and instead elect focused, development-minded individuals.

Speaking in Changamwe during his campaign tour, the second-term legislator — who has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election — faulted the current county leadership for what he termed as “poor governance and neglect of basic services.”

Ali accused Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir of ignoring the needs of locals and failing to deliver tangible results since assuming office.

“Has he done anything tangible for us since he got into office three years ago?” posed Ali.

The MP cited challenges such as inadequate clean water, poor healthcare, an unfriendly business environment, and stalled development projects as signs of failed leadership.

“We have become a laughing stock. Instead of being county number one in development, we are last because of irresponsible leaders pursuing selfish gains,” he said.

Ali also criticized the growing wave of tribal politics in Mombasa, calling such sentiments “reckless and divisive.”

“Anyone from any tribe can vie for any elective position. Those promoting tribal politics are enemies of progress,” he said.

Ali said his vision for Mombasa is centered on improved service delivery, a clean environment, equitable distribution of resources, and community empowerment.

The Nyali MP, who is serving his second term, has been traversing the county to popularize his gubernatorial bid. Other aspirants eyeing the seat include former Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo, Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Aharub Khatri, and UDA Secretary General and EALA MP Hassan Omar Sarai.
