Mombasa, Kenya, October, 7, 2025- County Senatorial aspirant in the 2027 general election, Charles Mghenyi, has urged the youth to register as voters in preparation for the upcoming polls.

Mghenyi said only a few young people have so far embraced the national voter registration exercise that began on September 29, 2025, across the country.

Speaking in Mkomani Ward, within Nyali Sub-county, after meeting youth groups in the area, Mghenyi — a youthful politician seeking to unseat the incumbent Senator Mohammed Faki — said young people have for years yearned for transformative change, adding that the time to enact such change is now.

“I am rallying my peers to go out and register as voters because this is the only way we can bring the change we have been yearning for. We can’t sail through when we ignore such a critical exercise,” he stated.

According to the IEBC, over 147,000 new voters are targeted in Mombasa County.

“It is discouraging to see less than 500 youth coming forward to register as voters in the first week of this important exercise. We should encourage each other to register so that we are in a position to send home leaders who have failed us,” he noted.

Mghenyi insisted that the youth’s voice matters and that Mombasa’s young people should not stay behind and later lament over poor leadership that has sidelined them.

“The continuous voter registration began on 29th September 2025, and in the first week, only 500 came forth to register. I would like our young people in Mombasa County to show up in large numbers,” he emphasized.

Mghenyi, a journalist-turned-politician, has been traversing all parts of Mombasa County meeting youth, women, and community leaders as he seeks to woo voters. He has promised an all-inclusive leadership where the voice of the community will be prioritized.

He said he is vying for the Senatorial seat to ensure there is proper oversight of county government activities and accountability in the management of public funds. As a senator, Mghenyi said, he will not only represent the interests of Mombasa County in the Senate but also push for equitable allocation of national resources and legislation that directly benefits the county’s residents.

“Together, we can shape the future of our country. Don’t be left behind — be part of the 147,000 new voters expected in our county,” he urged.

Mghenyi has been engaging communities in all six sub-counties — Nyali, Kisauni, Likoni, Changamwe, Jomvu, and Mvita — meeting with women groups, youth, boda boda riders, and church leaders as he drums up support for his bid.

“As we continue to walk together on the journey of leadership and service, I believe our destiny as a people is one of unity, opportunity, and progress — and with God’s guidance, we will make it a reality,” he added.

Mghenyi said pushing for unity, progress, and transformation within communities remains his core responsibility as he pursues his political journey.

“Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous future for all,” he concluded.
