Nairobi, Kenya, Sept 26, 2025 – LG Electronics East Africa has handed over two community projects developed by the winners of the 2025 LG Ambassador Challenge, marking a milestone in the company’s support for grassroots initiatives.

DECIP Children’s Home in Dagoretti Corner, Nairobi, used the KES 1 million grant to construct a tank tower and water processing room capable of holding four 10,000-litre tanks. The facility is expected to boost water storage and, once certified by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), supply water to the wider community.

“This award has helped us take an important step towards self-sufficiency,” said Felistar Wangui, Director at DECIP Children’s Home. “The water project will not only support the orphanage but also benefit the wider community once it is fully operational. We are grateful to LG for their generous grant and for standing with us in this journey.”

The second beneficiary, Rebirth of a Queen, a survivor-led organization in Kiserian, Kajiado County, expanded its fashion and design facilities with new sewing equipment. The community-based group supports survivors of gender-based violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking by offering training, mental health support, education, and safe shelter.

“Our trainees are really going to benefit from this upgrade, and the impact will be felt through the entire community as more young women will get the skills they need to earn a living,” said founder Pauline Akinyi.

Jane Kariuki, LG East Africa’s Regional Head of Marketing, lauded the winners, saying: “We are proud to see the LG Ambassador Challenge making a real difference on the ground. The successful completion of these two projects is a testament to the resilience of Kenyan communities and the uniting drive to make life better for everyone.”

The LG Ambassador Challenge, an annual initiative, awards KES 1 million each to two community projects. Since its launch, it has disbursed KES 13 million to sustainable initiatives across Kenya.

In addition, LG East Africa continues to invest in corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs focusing on education, environmental protection, and provision of essential infrastructure such as boreholes and electronics for schools, hospitals, and community institutions.
