Veteran lawyer, an author and Senior Counsel Pheroze Nowrojee is dead, the high court Advocate with over 50 years’ experience well known for his work in human rights and constitutional law took a final bow on Saturday.
Nowrojee, was a giant sentinel of justice and a keeper of Kenya’s democratic flame.
The revered figure in Kenya’s legal fraternity built a formidable reputation over decades as a principled advocate for justice, having been called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1965 before his admission to the Kenyan Bar in 1967, thereafter extending his legal practice to Tanzania and Zanzibar.
He brightened the courtrooms with his brilliance and defence of constitutional values and for his scholarly contributions.
His career was pegged on human rights and public interest law.
The great colossus of Constitutional Law and a fine legal mind has bowed out of the Bar. His file, now eternally closed.
