Mombasa Gubernatorial hopeful, Ali Mbogo says that nurturing youth talents through sports and other activities are among his top agenda when elected as the Mombasa Governor.

Mbogo says that youth remain critical aspect in any County development agenda, adding that he will prioritise them.

Speaking in Junda, Kisauni Subcounty after a meeting with 11 Brothers Football club over the weekend, the former Legislature stated that Mombasa county has experienced very minimal youth related projects since devolution.

He promised the youth that he will deliberate and engage them in all the steps to elevate their lives through nurturing their talents and enable them attain their goals in life.

The politician reiterated the need to have mordern sports facilities in Mombasa county to ensure various opportunities do not slip off the hands of Mombasa youth.

“We had a month long sports activities in East Africa, the CHAN 2024 competition. If we had our mordern stadium in Mombasa, we would be one of the hosts,” said Mbogo, pyting the state of Mombasa Municipal stadium that has for years remained a forest within Mombasa island.

The past regime and politicians have used the dilapidated stadium as a campaign tool to advance their political agenda and woo votes from Mombasa residents.

During his meeting with the 11 brothers football club in Junda, Kisauni Subcounty, the Mombasa Gubernatorial aspirant donated 5 balls and some cash to the soccer team.

According to the former Kisauni Member of Parliament, the current Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir has done totally nothing to transform youth lives through nurturing their talents and engage them at the grassroots level.

“This is just but one of the reasons why am going for the county top seat. We need clear transformative development agenda, this will enable us serve our Mombasa residents better,” he said.

The former Lawmaker said his track record while serving as Kisauni MP between 2017-2022 is open to public scrutiny, further urging locals and especially the youth to back his journey of becoming the third Mombasa County Governor.

“It is evident that we have reaped nothing from Governor Nassir’s leadership. We need to change our voting trends or else we will continue suffering the consequences as Mombasa residents,” reiterated Mbogo.
