Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho says he has no any intentions to vie for any political position in Mombasa county, in the 2027 general election.
Speaking in Mombasa county recently, the first Mombasa governor noted that those spreading the rumours that he will vie for Senatorial position come 2027 general polls are only misleading the public.
According to Joho, he has been handed serious responsibilities at the national level by President William Ruto and he is aiming at achieving the objectives of Kenya Kwanza Government.
The once strong critic of President William Ruto who benefitted from the broad-based government after President Ruto and ODM Leader Raila Odinga’s unity stated that he will fully serve Kenyans under the Cabinet Secretary position and that the Senatorial position rumours are not anywhere near his leadership thoughts.
“Who said that am eying the Mombasa Senatorial position in 2027 general elections? Whoever they are, they are wrongly advised. Let anyone who wants to run for that particular position go ahead without thinking that I might be an obstacle in their political journey,” said Joho.
The former Mombasa Governor reiterated that he is not involved in the ongoing Mombasa political bickering, urging every elected leader to properly execute their mandates and stop early politicking.
“At what time will you serve the people if you will always be wrangling politically with your opponents or campaigning in public? As a leader who knows their roles and responsibilities to the electorates you should be accountable enough and serve your people,” he added.
The Mining Cabinet Secretary has been rumoured to be planning a political overhaul in Mombasa county, with an aim to unseat the current Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki, claims that Joho has vehemently refuted.
He once again urged both locals and their leaders to works in unison if they want to take Mombasa county to the top development level.
