Glovo, in collaboration with Food4Education and Food Banking Kenya, has delivered over 1.3 million meals in the past year to tackle hunger in classrooms and communities nationwide.
NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct’ 21, 2025 – On-demand delivery platform Glovo has announced that its partnerships with Food4Education and Food Banking Kenya have enabled the distribution of more than 1.3 million meals to vulnerable communities across the country.
The company said the initiative underscores its commitment to addressing food insecurity and reducing food waste through strategic collaborations with local organisations.
“Since the inception of these partnerships, Glovo has provided essential support to both organisations, enabling them to scale their unique models and deepen their impact,” said Caroline Mutuku, General Manager for Glovo Kenya.
Through Food Banking Kenya, Glovo supports the collection and delivery of surplus agricultural produce to food-insecure populations. In the past 12 months alone, this effort translated into 1,304,026 meals distributed to people in need.
“Our mission extends beyond convenience; it’s about building stronger, more resilient communities,” Mutuku said. “By helping to move rescued food to where it’s needed most, we’re supporting communities, reducing waste, and ensuring that no good food goes to waste while people go hungry.”
Food Banking Kenya Executive Director John Gathungu praised the collaboration, saying it has been “essential to the success of our Agriculture Recovery Program.”
“This partnership enables us to consistently deliver meals every month and has been truly impactful. We deeply appreciate Glovo’s commitment to alleviating hunger, reducing food loss and waste, and combating malnutrition,” he said.
Glovo has also been supporting Food4Education, a social enterprise that provides nutritious meals to children in public primary schools through its “Tap2Eat” digital platform. The company’s financial contribution over the past year has supported the delivery of 56,742 hot lunches to pupils.
“Our collaboration with Food4Education is a prime example of how technology and financial support can create tangible impact,” said Mutuku. “By ensuring children have access to a hot meal at school, we are not just fighting hunger, we are investing in their education and future potential.”
Glovo said the partnerships reflect its broader goal to drive sustainable social impact and promote food security in Kenya, particularly as the world marks World Food Day.
