Nominated Mining CS Ali Hassan Joho has declared that he is worth 2.36 billion shillings.
While being grilled by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs presented a 10-point plan to overhaul the Ministry should he sail through.
He said the Ministry is flooded by cartels which calls for his first assignment to get rid of such criminal network.
Joho further promised to educate Kenyans on the minerals found in their locality and the direct benefits to them and the country’s revenue plans.
Joho revealed his plans to digitize the ministry processes and implement technological systems to improve revenue in the mining sector.
“I will be a listening CS and always embrace dialogue for us to achieve our goals in face-lifting the mining industry in our country,” said the former Mombasa Governor.
Joho called for a review of the Mining Act adding that he intends to secure Kenyan representation in the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
“I will conduct capacity building for Deep-Sea fishing. I am planning to train at least 875 individuals to boost local expertise while embracing the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for large-scale projects,”
