On Saturday, hundreds of Gen-Zs camped at the State house in Nairobi, following an official invitation by President William Ruto.

However, a section of Gen-Z have issued a statement denouncing the event.

The youthful generation in the country say they were not ready to grace any activity whether by the Head of state or any other politician from the country.

They said President Ruto was using them as a bait to fish their votes in the 2027 General election while the youth were now preparing to elect their own to occupy elective posts.

The statement further indicated that if the much hyped empowerment program was a genuine course then it could have been conducted at the grassroots level targeting youth who need such investments and not for selected few to go to State house.

“We want to clearly state that we were not part of the statehouse delegation on Saturday and we are on course aiming at voting in visionary leaders, mostly our peers in the forthcoming general elections,” read part of the statement.

The Gen-Z rubbished media reports that indicated the youth have finally made it to State house, reiterating that those who went to grace President Ruto’s “empowerment” program are not their affiliates.

“We can now see every politician scrambling for the youth vote. The youth they injured and killed since June, 2024, that can only be referred to an insult,” added the statement.

During the empowerment program at State house, the youth benefitted from bodaboda, beauty therapy assortment among other equipment to enable them initiate income generating projects.
