Mombasa, Kenya, October 19, 2025 — Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki has organised a candlelight vigil in honour of the late Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, a revered statesman, reform champion, and one of Kenya’s most influential political figures.
The solemn event, that took place on Saturday evening at the Senator’s office in Mombasa, brought together leaders, residents, and supporters from across the county to pay tribute to Odinga, who dedicated his life to the pursuit of democracy, justice, and national unity.
Senator Faki, who is currently away on parliamentary duties, described the vigil as a moment for reflection and national solidarity. He noted that Raila Odinga’s contribution to Kenya’s political transformation and democratic space will remain indelible in the nation’s history.
“The late Raila Odinga was not just a political leader; he was a symbol of resilience and courage. His vision for a just and inclusive Kenya inspired millions and shaped the country’s democratic journey. This vigil is our way of celebrating his life and honouring his legacy,” said Senator Faki.
“Raila Odinga’s dream for a better Kenya transcended politics. He stood for justice, equity, and good governance — values we must continue to uphold,” added Faki.
The Senator urged Kenyans to emulate Odinga’s lifelong commitment to justice and unity, saying his ideals will continue to guide future generations in the quest for a better Kenya.
Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away on October 25, 2025, will be laid to rest today (Sunday) 19, at his rural home in Bondo, Siaya County.
