Rita Tinina’s family contented with autopsy report

A postmortem procedure on the body of the late seasoned journalist Rita Tinina has revealed that she died of severe pneumonia.

Family Spokesperson Timothy Njaga said the postmortem conducted on Tuesday by government pathologist Peter Ndegwa and family pathologist Dr Michaka revealed that the late Tinina died of sever pneumonia she suffered for five days before her death.

The family says it is satisfied with the results and asked to be accorded privacy to mourn Tinina.

Until her demise, Tinina worked as an Output Producer for Broadcast platforms at the Nation Media Group. According to Kileleshwa police, Tinina was found unresponsive in her bed on Sunday March 17, 2024.

The media frarternity has mourned Tinina as a trailblazer who set the pace and created path for other journalists to follow, and that she was ready to uplift the upcoming journalist.

Tinina with over 20 years in the media industry sharpened her career at Kimathi street twin-tower building that hosts NTV. She developed interest in Social and gender issues, and she later keenly followed the environment, wildlife and tourism docket.

Tinina would later ditch NTV and join KTN News as a senior reporter together with her Editors Joe Ageyo and James Smart, the Standard Group raid at NTV would also see other senior journalists among them Ben Kitili and Linda Ogutu also join KTN News.

In October last year, Tinina returned at NTV where she continued with her cross-cutting reporting.

Her collected voice, fluency in reporting, calm and calculated physical appearance when on Piece to Camera and well-researched stories ranging from environment, social, gender, Wildlife and tourism would make one follow her reporting.

Burial plans are underway according to her family.
