The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin has called on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to report to the investigation authorities on his assassination claims so that official investigations can commence.
Amin says despite months of such claims, Gachagua has not made any formal report to security agencies, adding that such public claims cannot be pursued without any official complaint.
Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Saturday, the DCI Boss termed Gachagua claims as baseless.
“His claims are just “media theatrics”. In such serious allegations, you do not have time to waste but rushing to the DCI and make your formal complaint so that we can launch an investigation,” said the DCI boss.
He cautioned the former Deputy President against creating unnecessary public tension.
“We are keenly following on the political developments and reckless remarks from such politicians. We will take decisive action if he does not cease inciting the public and create unnecessary tensions across the country,” stated Mr Amin.
The DCI Director once again appealed to the former DP Gachagua to make an official complaint at the DCI headquarters so that such allegations can be lawfully pursued.
Grave allegations
The former Deputy President has been claiming that there is a plot to assassinate him.
He went ahead and singled out some government agencies being used by the current regime to kill him, claims that the investigation agencies have since rubbished.
Since he was bundled out of the government, the former Deputy President has been criticizing the government and more specific his former Boss, President William Ruto, stating the President is behind his tribulations.
Gachagua with a section of Mount Kenya leaders have on several occasions been roughed up in public functions by goons. Gachagua has reiterated that the ‘hired goons’ are government sent.
“We know who is behind this. In fact, they are on a mission to kill me. I want the public to know that there is a plot by government agencies to kill me,” he earlier alluded.
