Renowned TV personality Lulu Hassan has sent Mvita Constituency leadership into tail-wagging after all signs indicated that she is aiming at unseating the current Member of Parliament, Mohammed Soud Machele.
Though she has remained mum on the issue, Lulu has been seen meeting with different community groups leaving people guessing if she is setting her foot in politics or she is just doing community work, a thing that remains at the bottom of her heart—serving the community.
No official communication from herself that indeed she is into politics, however, last year, the Citizen TV News anchor was seen with some former Mvita political leaders, this included former Mombasa mayor Ahmed Muhdhar who is known for his charismatic political leadership within Mvita Constituency.
Muhdhar has controlled Mvita politics for years and he can pull a crowd of elders within the Constituency, an indication that Lulu clearly knows the first steps she should take in ensuring she is at the heart of the elders, women and the youth—who will usher him into Mvita politics.
Through the Lulu ya Jamii Foundation, the TV Personality has been working with communities at the grassroots level mainly Women and youth groups deliberating ways of uplifting their lives.
Recently she conducted a free medical camp with other partners where hundreds of Mvita residents turned in large numbers to benefit from treatment of various ailments.
In an unpredicted next general election, Lulu may turn the tables upside down for Mvita politicians as the political tides and the rise of Gen-Z, forcible enact political ideology transformation in the country.
Only time will tell whether the top Citizen TV Swahili news anchor is trying her luck in the murky political waters or is it just community work? Only time will tell.
