Mombasa Lands, Housing and Urban Renewal County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Mohammed Hussein Mohammed is urging Single business owners to take advantage of the recent issued 100% waiver of all accrued penalties and clear their debts.
Hussein said Mombasa County government has been linient to business owners and other investors within Mombasa county, however they should abide by the county revenue laws.
Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, Mr Hussein noted that the county government has so far strengthen its collaborations with business owners, a reason why each party should play its role conclusively, to accelerate smooth running of the county and to enable the county government improve on service delivery to residents.
According to the County Executive Committee Member incharge of Lands, Housing and Urban renewel, since the new government was formed, there has been various strategies of creating conducive environment for investors and small traders.
He appealed to all traders, single business owners and investors to embrace the collaborations and work in unison with the county leadership so that they carry on with their business activities.
“We heavily rely on the collected revenues so that we also improve on service delivery to our people, the push and pull where parties do their things without any consultation is over,” said Mr Hussein.

Meanwhile, the young Mombasa county CECM is applealing to invetors to adhere to the county construction laws whenever they are initiating various projects, mostly for commercial purposes.
He said construction of any establishments should get approval from the county lands and housing department so that it does not pose environmental setbacks to the county for example blocking waterways.
“Recently we experienced floods during the heavy downpour that sent Mombasa residents into panic, howeevr, some of these problems are highly caused by the residents themselves. Let’s build our houses by adhering to the provided guidelines so as to avert risks especially during rains.
Earlier in a statement, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir said the county government has waived upto 100% of all the penalties accrued by Single business permit defaulters.
“This January, I have granted a 100% waiver on all penalties accrued by single business permit defaulters. I encourage all traders to take advantage of this waiver to comply by paying principle amount before January, 31st 2024, thereafter, enforcement shall begin,” said Nassir.
