China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) is gaining traction among developing nations, who see it as a practical framework for tackling shared challenges, advancing prosperity, and promoting a more equitable global order.

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, praised the initiative for strengthening multilateralism at a time when global cooperation is under strain. She emphasized its focus on South-South collaboration and the principle of sovereign equality.

“President Xi Jinping has stressed that sovereign equality is essential. Every country, regardless of its size or economic strength, enjoys the same sovereign rights,” Kharal noted. She urged developing nations to close ranks against unilateral pressures and protect their collective interests.

Reaffirming Islamabad’s support for China’s broader international vision, Kharal pointed to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a flagship Belt and Road project that has improved infrastructure, boosted connectivity, and brought tangible benefits to underserved areas.

Houmed M’Saidie, political advisor to the president of Comoros, echoed similar sentiments, describing the GGI as “not an empty slogan, but concrete action.” He highlighted the enduring partnership between China and Comoros, which dates back half a century. Unlike some major powers that pursue narrow self-interest, he said, China has consistently respected and supported Comoros.

M’Saidie commended President Xi as a leader with a global outlook, attentive to pressing issues such as poverty reduction and sustainable development. He cited the construction of hospitals in Comoros and educational opportunities for Comorian students in China as evidence of cooperation that directly benefits local communities.

Both officials emphasized that challenges like climate change, poverty, and inequality cannot be solved by any single country. They welcomed China’s advocacy for dialogue, cooperation, and its vision of building “a community with a shared future for humanity,” which aims to resolve disputes peacefully and ensure inclusive growth.
