The festive spirit was palpable in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, as Miriam Wakio from Mombasa became the first Coast region resident to bag the grand prize of KSh 1 million in Coca-Cola’s ongoing “Funua Flava Pata Mita” consumer campaign.
The elated winner received her cheque at an award ceremony held at Coastal Bottlers in Kanamai, marking a major milestone for the regional campaign. Miriam’s triumph also makes her the sixth national winner in the three-month promotion, which has already crowned lucky participants from Kisumu, Baringo, and other counties.
Miriam shared that her journey to the prize began with a simple act — sending the unique code found under a Coca-Cola bottle crown to the number 40111. She had previously won smaller prizes, such as data bundles, before the life-changing call came through.
“I never imagined I’d win a million shillings. I thank God and Coca-Cola for this blessing,” she said emotionally. “This money will help me settle school fees and address other family needs that have been pending for a long time.”
She encouraged fellow consumers to take part in the campaign, assuring them of its transparency and legitimacy. “Mashindano haya ni ya kweli kabisa,” she emphasized.
The “Funua Flava Pata Mita” campaign is Coca-Cola’s way of celebrating and rewarding its loyal consumers nationwide. By purchasing 300ml glass bottles of Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, or other participating brands, and sending in the code from crowns with a yellow line underneath, Participants stand a chance to win data bundles and sh.10K, sh.50K, sh.100K and the sh.1M weekly in cash prizes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Virendra Nagori, Chief Financial Officer at Coca-Cola Coastal Bottlers, said the initiative aims to deepen customer engagement while giving back to the community.
“This campaign is a token of appreciation to our consumers for their continued support,” Nagori said. “We urge all winners to make meaningful use of their prizes to improve their lives and those of their communities.”
With Miriam’s win, the tally of Coca-Cola millionaires in this year’s promotion now stands at six — and more winners are expected to emerge before the campaign wraps up on November 15, 2025.
