Gombato Youth FC and Arrow of Kajembe were crowned the 2025 Kwale County Tujiamini Cheza Dimba champions after thrilling finals held on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Both finals were decided on post-match penalties, with Gombato edging out Majestic Sports Arena FC 3–0, while Arrow of Kajembe defeated Mombasa Olympic Queens 4–2 to lift the women’s title.

This year’s edition attracted two women’s teams and six men’s sides split into two groups. Group A featured Kubo Rangers, Fahari FC, and Majestic Sports Arena, while Group B had Migunduni FC, Simba Warriors, and Gombato Youth. Group winners Majestic and Gombato advanced to the final showdown.

The boys’ champions pocketed KSh75,000 while the girls’ winners received KSh 50,000 in prize money.

The finals were graced by Kwale County FKF chairman Hamisi Mwajoka and the County Executive Committee Member for Social Services and Talent Management, Madam Francisca Kilonzo.

Kilonzo lauded the initiative, urging more partners to invest in grassroots football.

“This initiative will go a long way in nurturing talent in the county. We want more sponsors to come on board to help young people who want to take sports as a career. We thank SportPesa for returning to offer a platform for our youth to showcase what they can do,” she said.

Kajembe head coach Joseph Oyoo, who guided the girls to victory, praised his youthful squad drawn mainly from Kajembe Secondary School.

“I have been with the team for two months, and such tournaments are important because they gauge our preparations as we build a formidable side for future competitions,” he said.

Migunduni coach John Kazungu, whose side exited in the group stage, also commended the tournament’s organization.

“Despite our early exit, I scouted several quality players from other teams who can strengthen us in the County League. This has been a good platform, and my hope is SportPesa can extend this initiative to Kilifi County as well,” he noted.

Tujiamini, a sports and talent initiative by SportPesa, supports Kenyan athletes, teams, and other talents through sponsorships and financial backing.

Beyond football, the event also recognized winners in other grassroots programs. Silver and Gold awards were presented to individuals excelling in community development. Among them was tailor Matano Sande, who expressed gratitude for the recognition.

“This award will help me stabilize and grow my business,” Sande said.
