Mombasa Sen. hopeful Charles Mghenyi asks Church to back his bid

Mombasa County senatorial hopeful Charles Mghenyi has appealed to the church to back his efforts to clinch the position in the 2027 General elections.

Mghenyi who has been traversing Mombasa county seeking support to unseat the incumbent, Mohammed Faki says the church remains critical in changing the voting pattern Mombasa has experienced for long.

Addressing congregants at the Ulinzi Ministries Church in Magongo mwisho, Changamwe Subcounty, Mghenyi said the church if it comes out and back focused leaders, locals and Kenyans at large will benefit from transformative change.

He said civic education was the only way to unlock good leadership and governance that has stalled for years.

“In mombasa we have over 600,000 registered voters and the electoral body is projecting over 140,000 new registered voters before the next 2027 general, let’s grab above 300,000 votes for the senatorial seat,” Mr Mghenyi told the congregation.

Out of the over 600,000 votes, the Mombasa Senator garnered a total of 110040 votes.

“In 2022 it seems may people saw no reasons to turn out in large numbers to vote. Maybe you felt the right candidates were missing in the ballot papers but here we are. We youthful generation when supported by the church we will realise our dream as a united community,” he told the believers.

Mghenyi has been traversing Mombasa county appealing to locals to back his bid to become the next Mombasa Senator.

The journalist from Radio Group Africa, (The Star Newspaper) promises Mombasa residents nothing but putting the government of the day on check, to ensure good governance, accountability, transparency and an all-inclusive leadership guided by the constitution.

The journalist cum politician has been working with women and youth groups among other Mombasa residents lobbying for the Mombasa Senatorial seat.
