The ongoing Cabinet reshuffles in Kenya Kwanza government are meant to benefit few political heavyweights in the country and has nothing to do with service delivery.

The endless reshuffles by President William Ruto have yielded nothing in regards to service delivery in the country and Kenyans should stop being optimistic about the ever changes in the government.

Speaking in Mombasa, political and economic analyst Ustadh Shaban Mwalimu says the witnessed three different Cabinet reshuffles in the country in just two years of President Ruto’s regime is a history by itself.

Shaban wondered at what time will a Cabinet Secretary settle in a single ministry, plan and deliver services to Kenyans.

“Let’s sample Salim mvurya, he has been in three different ministries, from Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime affairs, to Trade and Investments and now Sports and Youth ministry on top of that, he is the Acting Cabinet Secretary in the Trade and Investments Ministry. Don’t forget that all these happened in a spark of just two years,” said the Economist.

Mvurya, will remain the Trade CS until the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui is vetted and sworn in by the president, early January, 2025.

Ustadh Shaban who is also a Communication expert in an Islamic organisation, Hizb-Ut-Tahrir Kenya, reiterated that the reshuffles are a clear indication of political benefits and not with an objective to improve service delivery to Kenyans.

“We saw the first cabinet reshuffle was ignited by Former Prime minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto’s handshake and the recent one was fueled by the renewed President Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta political partnership, this has nothing to do with Kenyans,” said Shaban.

His sentiments were echoed by activist Khamisa Maalim Zajjah who noted that the way President Ruto is governing the country has yielded a lot of backlash Kenyans.

“We need a stable working government. From my understanding of broad-based government, this one is not a broad-based government at all. The recent selection of three Cabinet Secretary nominees came from one tribe. Is that what you call an all-inclusive broad-based government?” posed Zajjah.
