Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been forced to end his trip in the United States, citing the need to return to Kenya and join the now heated political campaigns for the forthcoming by-elections.
Gachagua said despite the decision, he has made fruitful engagements with Kenyans living in the US promising them a return in the year 2026.
According to Gachagua, his trip met the expected objectives however, he had to cut it short so that he could join other party members in strengthening the DCP political party.
“The decision was made to return to Kenya and engage in preparations for upcoming by-elections, where my participation is deemed critical for our DCP political party,” he stated.
Gachagua has since apologised for not meeting all scheduled events in the US, promising a return visit in 2026.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan government has warned that Gachagua must record a statement immediately he lands in Kenya over his allegations that President William Ruto met with terrorist group Al-Shabab leaders during his recent North Eastern tour.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated that Gachagua must record a statement for propagating lies and hate in the US or substantiate his allegations.
However, Gachagua has since rubbished the threats telling off Murkomen.
“I am coming to my homeland Kenya and I will tell you the flight and its scheduled time it will land in the country so that you come and arrest me,” stated Gachagua.
The country is witnessing a heated political campaigns for the 2027 General elections and the November 27 scheduled by-elections across the country.
Despite a warning from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that such early campaigns had caused animosity and divisions among Kenyans, the politicians had carried on nevertheless.
