Nairobi, Kenya October 17, 2025- The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced changes to the funeral program of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, citing unavoidable circumstances.
According to a statement released on Friday by ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, the body of the late Raila will not be taken to his Karen residence for an overnight stay as had been earlier planned.
The statement indicated that after the ongoing public viewing at the Nyayo National Stadium, the body will instead be returned to the Lee Funeral Home for preservation in readiness for airlifting to Kisumu on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the body of H.E. the late Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga will not be taken to his Karen residence for overnight stay as earlier planned. Instead, after public viewing at the Nyayo National Stadium, it will be taken back to the Lee Funeral Home for preservation in readiness for airlifting to Kisumu tomorrow,” the statement read in part.
The party apologised for the inconvenience caused by the change, assuring the public that the overall funeral schedule remains on course, with the final burial still set for Sunday in Bondo, Siaya County.
ODM has been coordinating the funeral arrangements alongside the national funeral committee and the Office of the President, which is overseeing the state funeral.
Thousands of mourners continued to view the body at the Nyayo National Stadium late into the evening, marking the end of the day-long national requiem mass attended by President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and other dignitaries.
