The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wentangula has cautioned the opposition against inciting the public with an aim of causing anarchy in the country.
Wetangula, who has been traversing Mombasa and Taita taveta counties said the opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been inciting the public with their slogan ‘Wantam’ (One term) that indicate President William Ruto should not be re-elected for a second term.
According to the National Assembly Speaker, the opposition lacks agenda, urging Kenyans to ignore it.
He noted that Kenyans need development orientated leadership with clear agenda and manifesto and not criticising the current government without clear agenda of improving the livelihoods of Kenyans across the country.
“It is clear that the opposition lacks any agenda to facelift the lives of Kenyans. Wherever they go they only sing ‘One term’ and ‘Ruto must Go’ is that an agenda? Wetangula posed as he addressed Taveta residents, in Taita taveta County.
Wetangula, who later joined Mombasa County leaders aligned to the Kenya Kwanza government, reiterated that the country needs unity and economic stability and not divisive politics.
He said divisive politics pose a threat to the country’s peace and security.
“How does it feel when someone’s business they have built for decades is reduced to ashes in just a minute and they are left poor and tormented psychologically. Please let’s not propagate such dangerous situations in our country,” said Wetangula.
His sentiments were earlier echoed by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki who also criss-crossed the entire Coast region before finalising his coastal tour in Jomvu Constituency, Mombasa County on Saturday.
Kindiki urged coastal people to ignore the opposition and work with the government so that it fulfil it’s promises to Kenyans.
“Let’s avoid tribalism in our politics we are all Kenyans and we need to coexist. We have seen our colleagues in the opposition propagating lies and dividing Kenyans in tribal and political inclinations. This is not right,” reiterated the DP.
