President William Ruto has dismissed the opposition as “clueless,” insisting they have no ideas to engage Kenyans on national issues.

Speaking during a public address in Mombasa on Wednesday, Ruto said his government remains focused on delivering development, pointing to infrastructure projects, youth empowerment programmes and efforts to grow the economy.

“The opposition is clueless. They have nothing to offer Kenyans. If elections can come today, I am ready, because I will silence them once and for all. My track record speaks for itself,” Ruto declared.

The President also dismissed speculation about a one-term presidency, vowing to complete two terms as mandated by the Constitution.

“My government is here to stay. I will finish my two terms as the law provides,” he affirmed.

Ruto appealed to the coastal community to back his administration, urging them to remain united and work with the government so they can fully benefit from his development agenda. He further said he will work with coastal leaders to ensure an all-inclusive leadership.

His remarks were backed by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who rubbished the “one-term narrative” and reaffirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration will serve its full two terms.

The comments come amid heightened political exchanges between the government and opposition leaders, who have accused the administration of failing to address the high cost of living and rising insecurity.

  1. Ruto’s dismissal of the opposition certainly makes the political landscape more polarized, but his focus on development initiatives like the Mombasa commuter rail could help address pressing urban challenges. It’ll be interesting to see how the opposition responds to these new projects.
