Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, signed an amended Memorandum with his Lithuanian and British colleagues to execute the Grain Verification Scheme (GVS) at the Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference.

The scheme is designed to tackle and prevent illegal export of Ukrainian grain from occupied territories.

According to the press service of Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as reported by Ukrinform, Koval referred to the memorandum as the initial step toward a long-term strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, which lays the foundation for cooperation over the next 100 years.

“The pilot phase of this initiative will be launched in Lithuania, specifically at the port of Klaipeda, which will serve as a key hub for verifying the origin of Ukrainian agricultural products,” stated Vitalii Koval.

The Ukrainian minister also noted that the GVS would help identify stolen grain and prevent illegal transportation.

The agreement also includes the introduction of an innovative database from the UK: advanced technologies for determining the place of cultivation will safeguard the interests of Ukrainian farmers and promote market transparency.

Koval thanked international partners for their trust and support, highlighting that the collaboration between Ukraine, the UK, and Lithuania strengthens transparency in the agricultural sector and protects Ukrainian farmers’ interests.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a historic 100-year agreement aimed at boosting military and economic cooperation.
