In an unexpected turn of events, former President Uhuru Kenyatta received a heroic welcome in Embu County on Saturday during the consecration and installation of new Embu Catholic Diocese Bishop Peter Kimani Ndung’u.

The event which was attended by President William Ruto, his Deputy Professor Kithure Kindiki and impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua saw the former President receiving a heroic welcome and public escort until he settled down in the church.

The colourful consecration event however, turned highly politically charged with the former President calling for unity, peace and castigated tribalism being propergated by top politicians in the country.

According to the former President, politicians have been doing nothing rather than advancing selfish gains and interest as well as politically dividing the nation.

“I have been watching on TV the political unfolding in our once very united calm nation and I must caution that we should stop tribalism and lead the nation to the right path,” said the former President.

During the event, President William Ruto was openly booed by the congregation after he stated that the government has attained it’s development goals.

President Ruto stated that Kenya Kwanza government has invested a lot on the health sector, education, fighting graft and stabilising the country’s economy.

However, he was booed by the congregation after mentioning about the health sector and affordable housing projects, the government is implemented.

President Ruto was recently rattled by the Catholic Bishops who lashed out at his leadership terming it as below Kenyans expectations.

The Catholic Bishops in their most daring statement criticised President Ruto for peddling lies instead of serving Kenyans and ease the burden of cost of living.

“The government has completely failed in uplifting the living standards of Kenyans, it is marred by massive graft, there is failed health, failed education system and gross human rights violation where abductions, enforced disappearances and killings have painted a grim picture of our nation,” said the daring bishops.

However, Governance and development activist, and a lawyer Morara Kebaso cautioned the Mount Kenya region to be more vigilant and focus on transforming the country’s leadership stating that both Jubilee and Kenya Kwanza Government have failed Kenyans and should never be considered in any future elections.

“My dear people of the mountain. There is no shortage of good leaders in your region. Just mentor them and lift them up. We really need change. REAL CHANGE. I am your son I am speaking from my heart with truth to you. I know I risk loosing your support but I promised to be honest. The people you celebrate and cheer today are the reason your agriculture collapsed. They are the reason your businesses closed. They are the reason some of your children remain unemployed and sunk in drug addiction. Refuse their charm and demand what is yours,”

He continued, “Raise from among you men and women of integrity who will be accountable leaders. The politics of sympathy is over,”
