Two die in a tragic Dongo kundu bypass accident

Two people died and two others sustained multiple injuries after they were involved in a head on collision at the newly launched Dongo kundu bypass that connects Miritini area in Mombasa with Shika Adabu area in Likoni.

The February, 1 Saturday morning accident involved a Toyota Isis vehicle and a UNEP owned vehicle that had three passengers in it.

The Toyota Isis, (KDE 791H) was heading to Miritini while the UNEP owned vehicle registration number (926K) was heading to the South Coast

“The Toyota Isis driver lost control and veered off the other side of the road hitting the oncoming UNEP owned vehicle,” read part of the police report.

The head on collision was severe such that the driver died on the spot while the other passenger only known as Teresia, later succumbed to multiple injuries she sustained.

Police have launched investigations on the 5:40am tragic road accident that occurred near Kilomita kumi area along the Dongo kundu bypass.

Likoni police officers rushed to the scene and took the bodies of the two passengers to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH) morgue while the other two passengers who sustained numerous injuries were rushed to the Mombasa Private hospital for urgent medical attention.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
