On Monday January 27, 2025 the grim reality painted the Coast art scene that Nolly Wilson Raye was no more. Hard to grasp, however, at the end, the entertainment fraternity and larger family of the Little Theatre Club (LTC) comprehended that indeed the blossom had been plucked from them. The Little Theatre Club Secretary Nolly willson Raye had breathed his last.

Nolly, served in the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Mombasa office and he was an Associate at National Youth Associates.

The hilarious and jovial character mostly known with the phrase Habari zenu! That was hatched during the Clubs elections, led the Mombasa County Child Rights Network and Kuza livelihood Improvement Project.

The multi-talented people’s servant also played the role of Menza Mwenye Child Protection Program Focal person among other community roles he implemented to the very last minute of his life.

Cause of death

A postmortem report released by the club indicated that Mr Raye died of multiple organ failures mostly due to excessive consumption of alcohol.

“A postmortem conducted at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital confirmed that the deceased suffered multiple organ failures due to excessive consumption of alcohol,” read the statement.

Raye’s heart had enlarged to weigh 700gms and it was surrounded by fluid. both his kidneys had failed and his lungs had perforations.

The statement released by the Club Chairperson Fernando Anuang’a puts to end speculations that Raye’s death may have been inflicted by injuries he sustained following an altercation at the club.

Several videos circulated on social media suggested that Raye had sustained multiple injuries following the physical fight with some people seen in the video.

However, the club cleared the air stating that the dispute occurred long ago and the parties had settled the matter. He further stated that the disagreement was personal and it did not affect the club’s business.

The late Nolly Wilson Raye will be transported to his Asembo home in Siaya county on February 13, 2025 and will be laid to rest on February 15.
