President William Ruto has urged European investors to look for investment opportunities in Africa.

The president said investing in Africa is a good business decision due to its many untapped resources.

He described Africa as a continent with a bright future, great opportunities, and great potential.

“If you’re looking at the future and you’re not looking at Africa, then you’re looking at the wrong place. The future is in Africa,” he said.

He said this on Tuesday at the dinner event of the European Council of Organizations on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM) in Rome, Italy.

He said Africa has the largest renewable energy resources in the world, making it the best industrial hub in the world.

“Africa also has important minerals in the world that are important for the energy transition,” he added.

The President said that the continent has two-thirds of the cultivated land in the world and thus has the possibility of large agricultural production to feed themselves and, indeed, the world.

He also noted that Africa has the smallest population, with more than 70 percent under the age of 30.

He explained that by the year 2050, a quarter of all people in the world will be living in Africa, thus making the continent a profitable market to invest.

President Ruto, however, said Africa’s potential cannot be realized without the right technology and financial support.

He called on Europe to use technology in Africa and help unlock its vast resources for mutual benefit.

“We can create winning results for Europe, Africa, and the world,” he said.

The President said the summit meeting between Italy and Africa, which is the first-ever, is a demonstration that Africa is no longer the dark continent that it was previously mentioned to be.

During President Ruto’s two-day visit to Italy, he addressed the Italy-Africa Summit, which focused on food security, vocational training, energy, and infrastructure development.

He also held talks with President Sergio Mattarella of Italy. During the meeting, Italy accepted Kenya’s proposal to use its G7 presidency to push for reform of the international financial system.

President Ruto also held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and European Council President Charles Michel.

He also met with Mr. Axel van Trotsenburg, the managing director of the World Bank Group, the Director General of the Food Agriculture Organization, Qu Dongyu, and the Rome Initiative Group on the Peace Process in South Sudan.

Other leaders were World Food Program Executive Director Cindy McCain and International Monetary Fund Director General Kristalina Georgiaieva.
