ODM Leader Raila Odinga has reaped big from the Gen-Z protests after squarely boxing President William Ruto and initiated the first step of controlling the Kenya Kwanza government.

Raila, has officially taken over Kenya Kwanza Government by ensuring his ODM old guards clinch top position in President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

The history repeated itself on Wednesday when President Ruto nominated both two ODM Deputy party leaders; Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime affairs while former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was fronted to head the Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Ministry.

Also the huge beneficiaries of the Ruto’s proposed second half cabinet are ODM Chairperson John Mbadi for the National Treasury and Economic Planning and Ugunja Member of Parliament who is also the minority leader at the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi as the Energy and Petroleum CS nominee.

Raila, as has been the norm since during the late Mwai Kibaki’s, he has been shying away from the presidency intentionally and immediately after the past general elections, he employs political gimmicks to make his way to the government.

Dead opposition

Wednesday events and happenings summed up the ‘broad-based government President William Ruto was recently talking about. He keenly distabilises the opposition, ensuring he does what he can without any watch, checks and balances.

Ruto is definitely hanging on Raila for survival and in return, Raila has successfully bagged the Kenya Kwanza government.

Recently, President Ruto launched a fight against the civil society, he also picked a second fight with the media, aspects that are slowly denting the Kenya Kwanza government making other local leaders affiliated to the ruling party politically disintegrating.

But ODM leader Raila Odinga has made ‘Broad-based—Nusu mkate’ government a reality as the vetting of all the 12 nominees at the National Assembly is only but a mere formality.

Despite the Gen-Z demands being clear, President Ruto has ignored them. This can trigger more anti-government protests in the coming weeks.

The anti-government protests are pegged on poor governance, graft, ethnicity discrimination in employment opportunities, bloated wage bill among various critical governance issues.

But with the entrance of top opposition brass in the Ruto’s crisis-hit government taking four ministerial positions being Finance, Energy, Mining and Cooperatives ministries. This is a history that despite being written nowhere it triggers even more demands from the Gen-Z.

Raila has been finding his way to the past government including Kibaki’s, Uhuru and now Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

The scramble for top ministerial jobs by the opposition comes amid protests over the killing of over 50 youth who participated in the anti-government protests.

Bigger percentage of Kenyans are castigating Ruto’s government for serving specific people and tribe while forgetting the larger Kenya. The youth have been agitating for President William Ruto resignation.
