Former Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Menza Mbogo maybe the fine replacement or rather Coast representative in President William Ruto new cabinet.

This is after President Ruto fired his entire cabinet that had two Coastal representatives; Aisha Jumwa and former Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya. Incase the two will not be ‘recycled by President Ruto, then Mbogo, one of the Coastal leaders is poised for such a plumb job.

Initially when President William Ruto convinced Mbogo to join UDA from the Wiper Party after their Sonko-Mbogo battle for Mombasa Gubernatorial seat hit a snag, the Coastal people pushed for his name to appear in the Cabinet or he is appointed as one of the Principal Secretaries.

Mbogo and former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko would later be barred by court from vying for the Mombasa County top seat after court questioned the integrity of Sonko.

The duo did not make it to the Ballot, and they decided to back UDA candidate Hassan Omar Hassan.

In his last heated presidential political campaigns in Mombasa, UDA Presidential candidate by then William Ruto announced at the Tononoka grounds that when he become Kenya’s 5th President, he will appoint Ali Mbogo as his Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary.

However, after he was announced the Winner of the August, 2022 presidential polls, and after a court battle that reaffirmed Ruto the Winner, he was on September, 13, 2022 sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya, but did not fulfill the much awaited promise.

However, from Coast, President Ruto picked Salim Mvurya, former Kwale Governor to spearhead the Mining and Blue economy Ministry and Aisha Jumwa who landed at the Gender and Public Service Ministry.

Ruto would later appoint Mbogo to Chair the Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council.

The appointment would result into a serious dissapproval from the Coastal people mostly the Mijikenda community who rubbished the appointment saying Mbogo had been given a very raw deal compared to his unwavering support and efforts to deliver results during the highly competitive elections.

They also said the former Kisauni Lawmaker possessed all the qualifications to become a Cabinet Secretary or a Principal Secretary in the Ministries of Trade, Transport or the Mining and Blue economy.

Ruto would later move Mbogo from the Tsetse Eradication Council to the LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority, a position he holds to-date.

The Egerton University Computer Science graduate has for a long time worked in the Energy and Petroleum sector including at the defunct government owned parastatal Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited.
