President William Ruto has accelerated his assault against the judiciary, insisting that the Kenyan judiciary is marred by rampant corruption.

Ruto, in a statement, vowed to ‘deal’ with corrupt individuals denting government efforts to economically revive the country.

Though he acknowledged that there are upright judicial officers holding high integrity, he noted that some of the public officers in the judiciary are dishonest and corrupt to the core.

“We will root out all corrupt individuals in our judiciary; the impunity of bribing judges to derail, delay, or sabotage Kenya’s imminent transformation will never happen under my watch,” said President Ruto.

In a press statement through statehouse spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, Ruto cautioned that it is high time Kenya breaks the shackles of judicial indemnity.

He warned that if he sluggishly handles the corruption issues within the judiciary, he will as well tarnished Kenyans hopes.

President Ruto vowed to uphold constitutional values and never allow the country to plunge into the shackles of graft.

“Legislative impunity, by its own measure, is also unacceptable, and so is judicial impunity,” stated President Ruto.

Warning

However, in a quick rejoinder, Azimio Leader Raila Odinga rubbished President Ruto’s sentiments, saying the President wants to control an independent arm of the government.

Raila said the president should let the judiciary work independently without any form of threat.

“We have been closely watching the unfoldings in this failed Kenya Kwanza government, and indeed, all the independent institutions are under attack. With such leadership, Kenyans will remain captive to this dictatorship,” noted Mr. Odinga.

Recently, the opposition leader has been on President Ruto’s neck, warning him of possible protests if he does not listen to the voice of Kenyans.

Raila urged Ruto to climb down and listen to what Kenyans are telling him, and he further warned that Kenyans want a fall in the high cost of living.
