Radio Maisha’s Solomon Zully named best Radio host in Kenya

MOMBASA, Kenya, November 16, 2025— Radio Maisha Breakfast presenter Solomon Zully has been recognised as the Best Performing Radio Host in Kenya 2025 during the 7th edition of the Africa Champions Awards held on Saturday at the Pride Inn Hotel in Shanzu, Mombasa County.

The honour was presented by Africa Champions Awards International, following a continent-wide research on transformative leadership across different sectors.

In a statement, the organisation said:

“Africa Champions Awards celebrates leaders and institutions who have positively impacted society. The remarkable efforts by every leader have not only enriched the society but also paved the way for a more socially cohesive, inclusive, sustainable and environmentally conscious future.”

Zully, who hosts Radio Maisha’s popular Breakfast Show (Maisha Asubuhi) and the late-night programme Maisha Cocktail that airs every weekday from 11 p.m., thanked the organisers for the recognition.

“Thank you so much Africa Champions Awards for recognising the efforts,” he said.

A household name in Kenya’s media industry, Zully boasts over 18 years of experience in radio broadcasting. His career cuts across key newsroom and production roles, having served as a news reporter, features editor, news anchor, producer and current affairs host at the once-vibrant Islamic station Radio Salaam, which has since shut down.

He later worked at Sauti ya Pwani FM, another Coast-based station currently undergoing rebranding, before moving to Radio Kaya, a Mijikenda station. After a brief stint there, he transitioned to the national stage where he joined Radio Maisha, a Standard Group-owned national radio station, which he has called home for the last three years.

Solomon Zully famously known for his own way and style of articulating issues on air has attracted a significant database of audience across the country. Grinding the political developments, social issues, gender perspectives, deliberating and engaging the audience and the country’s leadership on current issues in the country.

Zully’s latest recognition cements his position as one of Kenya’s most influential voices in radio, celebrated for his versatility, consistency, and ability to connect with audiences across the country.
