In what seems as a vibrant management and programmers at Standard Group owned radio station, Radio Maisha, the team did not waste time in rejuvenating the already existing energy and vibrancy of the station.
Radio Maisha recently raided Mediamax owned, Milele FM snatching its top afternoon Presenter Chris The Bass (Chris Da Bass) in adding flavour to the already hot Maisha Asubuhi breakfast show, hosted by Solomon Jefwa Zully and Sugar Boy (Ally Mwayogwe).
Chris Da Bass revitalizes the already vibrancy experienced in the morning show with Zully and Sugar Boy.
Chris, was a household name back at Coast-based urban Radio station Pilipili FM owned by Mediamax Limited too, that later changed to Msenangu FM to recruit the vast Mijikenda community within the coastal region.
He later joined Milele FM as a Presenter. Milele FM too is owned by Mediamax Limited and before announcing his exit in April, 15 2023, Chris was hosting the afternoon show alongside MCA Tricky.
Chris, has a trong fanbase cutting across the country and indeed, his entrance adds aroma to the already most listened breakfast show in the country, ‘Maisha Asubuhi’.
Alongside Zully and Sugar Boy, no doubt the station is poised for greater heights in the coming weeks giving its competitors tough moments in the radio broadcasting industry.
Rumours
Earlier, rumours circulated that Radio47 breakfast show host Alex Mwakideu who also worked at Radio Maisha before joining Milele FM was making a come back to ‘Maisha Asubuhi’ and that he would double up as the Station manager.
However, it seems the deal flopped. After the exit of almost all Radio Maisha Presenters and News anchors and editors to Radio 47, the multi-talented and seasoned radio personality, Solomon Zully managed the critical morning show, that plays a great role of revenue generation.
Seaoned
The young, deep-voiced calm and calculated Zully, nurtured his journalism and radio broadcasting talent back at an Islamic coast-based radio station, Radio Salaam before ditching the station to another Coast-based Radio station, Sauti ya Pwani FM, where his strong interest remained hosting the Breakfast show, Talk shows, news editing and anchoring.
Mr Zully, would later join Mijikenda station Radio kaya where he hosted the breakfast show alongside Beatrice Dama Kahindi.
However, he did not last long at Radio kaya and he quit and for the first time, his dream of joining a national radio station, materialised.
“I yearned for so long to talk to the entire nation through the microphone and not just to the coastal audience. Indeed 2023 came as a blessing year to me, I joined the leading radio station in the country Radio Maisha,” he once revealed in an interview.
With his charismatic styles of presenting hard-facts, conducting interviews, indepth research of program content and engaging his vast fans countrywide, no doubt the team of three Gentlemen; Zully, Chris and Sugar Boy has already shaken competitors in the radio broadcasting sector.
Chris too, boasts of a clear undertanding of the radio broadcasting and stepping into the Mombasa road based, Standard Group owned radio station, Radio Maisha culminates into nothing but giving the vast audience the very best in terms of content, engagements, and fun.
Sugar Boy, has for years, alongside Emmanuel Mwashumbe built his brand and unexpectedly he was extremely insync with Zully when he joined the station and the audience never experienced any sense of loneliness and demarcation between the two or mincing words.
Indeed strengthening the breakfast show is a well-calucated move that is meant to sustain listenership and a strategic way of recruiting new audiences as well as beating the stiff competition in the radio broadcasting sector.
