President Ruto mourns vollyballer Janet Wanja

President William Ruto on Friday led Kenyans in mourning former Malkia Strikers Vollyballer Janet Wanja.

In his condolences President Ruto said “Janet Wanja, a gifted and disciplined volleyball star, served the cause of our country’s sports with honour and dedication. She was focused, hardworking and a team player. May it be comfort to her family, friends and the wider sports fraternity that we are praying for them at this tough and difficult time. One day, we will beat cancer. Rest in Peace, Wanja,”

The former  National volleyball team Malkia Strikers queen, aged 40 was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer a few months ago.

She succumbed to the disease while undergoing treatment.

During her glowing moments in her career at Malkia Strikers, Wanja helped Kenya win more than 10 trophies including the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix title.

May Janet Wanja’s soul rest in peace.
