President William Ruto on Tuesday extended his warm wishes to the government and people of the People’s Republic of China in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
In his message, President Ruto expressed hope that the Year of the Wood Snake would bring prosperity and good fortune to the Chinese people and their leadership under President Xi Jinping.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Kenya, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to His Excellency President Xi Jinping, the Government and the people of the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake. May this New Year bring abundance, reflecting your country’s commitment to the wellbeing of others,” said President Ruto.
This gesture follows President Ruto’s recent affirmation of Kenya’s commitment to strengthening ties with China. In a meeting with China’s new Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, Ruto emphasized intention to deepen collaboration with Beijing through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to foster economic growth and mutual prosperity.
In China, the Lunar New Year is marked by family gatherings, festive meals and vibrant cultural celebrations.
