Mombasa investor Suleiman Shahbal has vowed to turn the tables upside down in the 2027 Mombasa gubernatorial race.

According to Shahbal, he has refreshed his battle for the top county seat adding that this time there is no turning back.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP stated that the country’s politics is fast changing and early political strategy is the way to go.

Recently, Mr Shahbal met with different youth groups and representatives in Mombasa to chat the way forward in his urge to unseat the incumbent, Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir in the 2027, general election.

The politician cum businessman noted that he will strategies and work with the youth in ensuring that together they change Mombasa county for good.

“Whether in a political party or as an Independent candidate I will go for that top seat. Change must come,” he told the youth gathering in Mombasa.

Shahbal who become one of the most better placed candidate to take Mombasa Governorship in the 2022 General elections, was forced by the ODM Party to retract his candidature and pave way for Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir to take on other opponents including UDA Vice Chairperson Hassan Omar Hassan.

Shahbal was famously known with his political slogan ‘Change Must Come’ that had taken the locals by storm making the Mombasa Gubernatorial candidate better placed for the top county job.

Shahbal’s come back to the Mombasa Gubernatorial race however faces various obstacles as he needs to mend the 2022 broken political ribbon to earn the people’s trust.

Before he politically backed down, Shahbal was a darling to many youth and women groups, following his championing for leadership and development changes within Mombasa County.

He however, left the highly charged political supporters hopeless after his exit from the conflicted Mombasa Gubernatorial race, and years later, his vast supporters are still castigating him.

No doubt his entrance to the Mombasa political scene has sent his close political opponents tail wagging.

His counterpart at the EALA, Hassan Omar Hassan, LAPSSET Chairperson and former Kisauni MP, Ali Mbogo, Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Aharub Khatri and the current Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir have vowed to be in the Gubernatorial ballot, with Nassir vowing to defend his seat.
