Philanthropist Hasmukh Patel takes the final bow

A renowned selfless Mombasa tycoon Hasmukh Patel Bhai is dead.

Patel died at the Premier Hospital in Nyali Mombasa on Thursday. Family Spokesperson Mumtaz Sayani confirmed.

Famously known as Hasuu, the billionaire owns Mombasa Cement and Tororo cement in Uganda, among a chain of companies.

He is the cornerstone of Nyumba Group of Companies, operating in Kenya and the larger East Africa.

Hasuu has been at the centre of community needs among them settling hospital bills, feeding the needy, securing school environment by constructing perimeter walls among other community projects.

In 2020 Hasuu Patel Bhai injected over 700 million shillings to transform an old Kibarani dumpsite to a major tourist attraction and community recreational park.

The park has seen both domestic and international tourists flocking it since then.

The tycoon has been ailing for a while but always ensuring the communities in the Coast region directly benefit from social projects, paying school fees for needy students and building classrooms in school in the coastal rural area.

His death has hit hard various communities who have received humanitarian aid from the selfless figure who believed more in the service to humanity and ‘blessed is the hand that giveth than the hand that receiveth’

Coast leaders among the Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, his Mombasa counterpart Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho and Nominated Senator Miraj Abdilah were among the first leaders to mourn the fallen humanity Icon.

“We have indeed lost a selfless investor and humanitarian whom we shall all remember and acknowledge. He has always been at the centre of the communities welfare in the Coast region,” said Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir.

Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho posted;

“It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that I have learnt of the death of Hasmukh ‘Hasuu’ Patel of the renowned brand, Mombasa Cement. Mr. Patel was a great man with a big heart,” said Joho.

Joho who closely worked with Hasuu during his two terms as first Mombasa Governor continued, “His dedication to making Mombasa a better place through his philanthropic work and commitment to environmental conservation has left a lasting impact on all of us. Many people from underprivileged backgrounds benefitted from his generosity in many areas ranging from healthcare to education assistance,” stated the former Mombasa County Chief.

The Mining CS mourned the late philanthropist adding that his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, and his contributions to society will always be remembered with gratitude.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity. May the Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace,” CS Joho mourned.
