The arrival of the MV Norwegian Dawn boosts the tourism sector along the Coastal region and the entire country.
“The government will continue marketing Kenya in collaboration with stakeholders to expand cruise tourism,” said President Ruto.
Norwegian Dawn which is one of the largest cruise ships arrived this morning for the second time after making its maiden call to port of Mombasa in early 2024.
The arrival of the ship indicate government’s effort in support the growth of cruise tourism in the country.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) had invested in a modern eco-friendly cruise terminal at the port of Mombasa that raised the standard of the cruise industry in the country.
MV Norwegian Dawn which sailed from Seychelles with 2200 tourists and 995 crew members on board boasts a length overall of 294 metres and a draft of 8.3 metres.
It is expected to cruise to Zanzibar after a one day stay at the Mombasa port.
The tourists in the ship are visiting various tourists’ attraction sites including national parks and excursions within the Coast Kenya.
“We are investing in quality infrastructure, engaging in strategic marketing and enriching offers and experiences to sustainably drive our tourism numbers. This will spur foreign investments and stimulate our economic growth,” reiterated President Ruto.
