Renowned investigative journalist who was the Nyamira County Chief of Staff Dennis Onsarigo has quit the role citing poor working environment.

In a letter addressed to Nyamira County governor Amos Nyaribo, Onsarigo who worked at the Taita Taveta county Government as the Director of Communication before he resigned, revealed that Governor Nyaribo has been frustrating him creating a gap between the two.

“It is with Heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the position of the Chief of Staff office of the governor, Nyamira County. Serving in this capacity has been a privilege and it is without considerable introspection and disappointment that I make this decision,” he said.

Onsarigo noted, deliberate move by the governor to interfere with his job including reprimanding an accounting officer and not paying some county workers was retrogressive.

He further revealed that workers among them drivers and the governor security team are yet to receive their monthly dues despite the National government having released the funds.

“I envisioned an end to the uncomfortable and embarrassing instances where my governor was forced to stop at a petrol station waiting for his official vehicle to be fueled by an accounting officer who could not be reached on phone,” he said.

He added that plans to refurbish the office of the governor in order to build modern toilets was sabotaged causing embarrassment to visitors paying visit to the governor’s office.

Onsarigo, former vibrant KTN News journalist said he could not persevere the embarrassing situation of poor running of the county and to an extent of the governor’s office lacking proper washrooms and toiletries.

“Despite dedication and hard work from our team, it is clear that the obstacles we face are beyond my immediate control. My continued presence in this role is regrettably not conducive to the progress Nyamira county people desire,” he noted.
