One person died on the spot along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway after he was involved in a road accident.
The accident happened near Voi town.
According to Voi traffic police, the driver of the Overseas transport company owned bus was heading to Nairobi from Mombasa when he tried to overtake two lorries also heading to the same direction before hitting a oncoming private car from the opposite direction.
The driver of the private car identified as Issah Ali Bongo died on the spot following the strong impact of the head-on collision.
None of the bus occupants was injured. However, the personal car was destroyed.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Voi, Taita Taveta county.
Both vehicles were towed to Voi police station.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
