One person was killed while two others sustained serious injuries after Al-shabab militants torched vehicles at Milihoi area in Hindi along the Lamu-Witu-Garsen road.
Lamu West Deputy County Commissioner Gabriel Kioni said the militiamen are taking advantage of the minimal traffic flow along the route thus attacking motorists along the way.
Kioni has appealed to motorists to be very vigilant and work closely with security agencies deployed to man prone areas as Al-shabab militants maybe planning attacks in such areas.
“We must all be vigilant and follow all security guidelines along the Lamu-Witu-Garsen road. The Tuesday attack left one dead and two others injured. The two have been treated and discharged,” said Mr Kioni.
The attack comes as the United Kingdom and Australia governments warned of possible attacks in the country cautioning its citizens against traveling to prone areas of the country.
