
Public affairs strategist and Nyali parliamentary aspirant Elkana Jacob has paid tribute to the late Raila Odinga, describing him as a visionary leader whose legacy of justice and equality will guide Kenya for generations.
Mombasa, Kenya, Oct’ 16, 2025 – The Elkana Jacob Foundation and Team Elkana Jacob Mashinani have joined Kenyans in mourning the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga, describing him as “a visionary statesman and tireless champion of justice and democracy.”
In an official condolence message, the Foundation extended its deepest sympathies to Raila’s family, friends, and supporters, saying his courage, resilience, and selfless service will remain etched in the hearts of millions.
“We mourn the loss of a visionary statesman, a tireless champion of justice, and a beacon of hope whose unwavering dedication to democracy, equality, and human rights transformed the course of our nation’s history,” the statement read in part.
Elkana Jacob announced that Team Elkana Jacob Mashinani had suspended all its activities during the national mourning period in honor of Raila’s memory. “He was a beacon of hope and justice,” stated the Journalist cum politician.
“May his enduring spirit continue to inspire us to uphold the ideals he so valiantly stood for — justice, peace, and equality for every Kenyan,” the message added.
Elkana Jacob, a public affairs strategist and communication consultant, previously worked as a photojournalist covering Raila Odinga during his tours of the Coast region while attached to The Star newspaper and Radio Group Africa.
He has since transitioned into public service and is now eyeing the Nyali Parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, running on a community-centered platform through Team Elkana Jacob Mashinani.
Raila Odinga, 80, died early Wednesday morning in India while undergoing treatment. A central figure in Kenya’s struggle for multiparty democracy, Raila spent decades shaping the country’s political history through reform, opposition activism, and national reconciliation efforts. His death has triggered a wave of grief across the country, with tributes pouring in from leaders, institutions, and citizens.
