Mbogo says the Elimu Kwanza initiative he launched even before he became Kisauni Legislature in 2017 remains on course, and vowed to continue executing it.
He noted that even after exiting the Kisauni parliamentary office 2022, he has accelerated the program by sponsoring needy students from Kisauni and Nyali Sub counties so that they continue with higher education.
“Our vision is not to help out needy students from these two Sub counties only but the entire Mombasa county so that none of our children remains at home due to lack of school fees,” stated Mbogo.
The LAPSSET Board Chairperson said Kisauni education sector transformed during his tenure.
“Todate, locals are lamenting on the current state of our education sector since during my five year term I had a clear vision, strategy and ways of executing development programs in the community at grassroot level,”noted Mbogo.
Mbogo noted that the education sector in Kisauni transformed from face-lifting of the infrastructure to disbursing bursaries and other education scholarships on time enabling students from poor families to access education.
The former Lawmaker was speaking in Ratna area, Nyali Sub county where he dramatically met a needy young boy Suleiman Juma from Kongowea who is from a humble background and could not raise school fees to join form one.
According to the politician, the young boy after seeing Mbogo getting a clean cut from his barber he bravely approached him and appealed to the politician to help him join form one.
“I immediately shifted my focus and attention to this young courageous man, he painted a painfully picture of my past and I will ensure that he continues with his studies upto university level,” noted Mbogo
The LAPSSET Board Chairperson conducted the entire shopping for the young Suleiman Juma to enable him achieve his dream.
He challenged Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir to properly implement his promises of issuing bursaries to the needy students indiscriminately.
Meanwhile, Mbogo called on parents in Mombasa to put more efforts and attention on their children’s education.
Mbogo noted that there are various educational scholarship programs meant to help needy students in the community and parents should grab such opportunities.
“I want to promise Mombasa residents that Elimu Kwanza education program is on course, it has positively transformed the education sector, we are working on expanding it so that it directly benefits all needy students within the county,” noted Mr Mbogo.
