Muslim faithful in Mombasa have appealed to security agencies to beef up security during the entire Holy month of Ramadan.
The Muslims say during Holy month of Ramadan, the believers spend most of the time in late night prayers thus the need for security details to be on check.
Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday, Muslim cleric Shaban Mwalimu noted that some areas among them Kisauni Likoni and parts of Changamwe have been experiencing insecurity incidents.
Shaban urged security officers to enhance 24 hour patrol so that nothing disrupts the Muslims night vigil also known as (taraweh).
Meanwhile Shaban is appealing to Muslim faithful to abide with the Holy Q’uran teachings that calls for prayers, repentance and helping the needy especially during the Holy month of Ramadan.
“We know we are all not the same economically, let’s share with the needy in our own society so that we all have something to break the fast with,” noted the Muslim cleric.
His sentiments were recently shared by the National government Deputy Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga who stated that the government is providing humanitarian aid to Kenyans in 19 counties across the country which are Muslim dominated.
“The government has set aside 100 million shilling to buy food and distribute it to the needy Muslim families in those 19 counties,” she said.
Chidzuga admitted that some Kenyans cannot make ends meet for some reasons but the government is doing everything possible to ensure Kenyans afford the cost of living.
“We understand that Kenyans have been facing tough economic times, but let me assure you that we are on the right trajectory most of the prices of basic commodities have gone down,” said the government Deputy Spokesperson.
She appealed to Kenyans and mostly the Muslim faithful to aid their fellow believers so that they get basic needs among them food during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The sentiments comes as as the Holy month of Ramadan enters second week.
