Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko has offered a hand of truce between Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir and Woman Representative Zamzam Mohammed who have been entangled in fierce war of wards.

The two have been publicly roasting each other over political supremacy with the Woman Representative Zamzam Mohammed terming Nassir as a total failure and who should relinquish the County top seat since he cannot deliver.

The Woman Representative said for the last two years since Nassir clinched the Gubernatorial seat, he has failed to accelerate the county’s development agenda and he remains unfit to steer Mombasa county.

“This is not about personal fight or hatred, the facts and figures are laid bare, the recent one being the Auditor’s General report that showed Governor Nassir has failed in properly using public funds for development,” said Zamzam.

The County Member of the National Assembly urged Governor Nassir to admit and swallow his bitter pill and pride and go back to the drawing board.

“If you are criticised as a leader you listen, strategise and act so that you rectify and serve your people better. Do not be so defensive,” noted Zamzam.

Nassir on his part said he will not respond to such statements, saying that he is not used to political bickering but serving Mombasa residents.

The two have recently been on each other’s neck, clearly drawing the battle for political supremacy in the county.

However, Mboko is not consuming the political tussle between the two leaders.

“I never thought I’d see a day when Mombasa, and indeed our entire nation is swept into a storm of emotions like in the past few weeks. Recent events have left me shocked and disheartened, from the insults layed on Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir ‘s family to the assault on Bruce,” said Mboko.

She went ahead, “As Kenyans, we are bound by laws, and no one is above them. Yet, what we’ve witnessed recently raises questions about the very values that hold us together. We must rise above the chaos and not above the laws that hold us together. Let us not let moments of division overshadow our compassion, sense of justice and our duty to serve our communities with integrity and respect,” added the MP.

The Lawmaker appealed to religious and community leaders and others politicians in Mombasa to unite the two leaders.

“Both the leaders are so important to our county’s development agenda. Let’s sit them down, discuss with them on the importance of truce and development politics so that we averty hatred in the county as their supporters have already resorted to physical fights,” said Mboko.
