Former Kisauni Legislature Ali Mbogo wants Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir to resign over fake academic credentials.
Mbogo claims that Nassir academic credentials are questionable and the government through the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the DCI should not relent in its course to nab all public servants who forged academic certificates.
Speaking in Kisauni, Mombasa, Mbogo noted that some Kenyans have been struggling to access higher education, however, they have remained jobless at home while people who forged certificates are enjoying well paying government jobs and other opportunities.
Mbogo urged Nassir to resign over the fake academic certificates, further adding that after thorough investigations, the Mombasa County Chief should be charged for faking the credentials.
“I fully support the government move to clean the Public service of quacks, only qualified candidates with valid certificates should benefit from those jobs,” said the LAPSSET Chairperson.
2,000
Over 2,000 Public servants in the country have so far resigned following the recently launched fake academic crackdown by President William Ruto.
We raised this issue during the 2022 political campaigns where we urged government agencies to investigate Nassir’s academic papers which we highly question,” added Mr Mbogo.
He further urged the government to accelerate the crackdown until all working in government parastatals and agencies are qualified people who fulfilled the requirements and are of high integrity.

However, in the last general election, Nassir rubbished the claims saying that he attained his Degree at the International University of Professional Studies (IUPS) formerly Inoorero University.
According to Nassir, he attended Aga Khan Primary School in Mombasa in 1981 before transferring to the Coast Academy. Upon completing his primary school education in 1988, he joined Lenana School in Nairobi where he completed his secondary education in 1992.
He graduated from International University of Professional Studies in 2014 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Nassir during the last general polls told off those opposing him in his quest for Mombasa top job that his Degree is valid and in public domain, urging anyone questioning his academic qualifications to visit the higher learning institution in Nairobi and enquire about his education background.
