Former Kisauni Legislature Ali Mbogo has scoffed at Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir terming him as a total failure in steering Mombasa county to the next level.

Mbogo said Mombasa County has been receiving up to 14 billion shillings annually from the National Government as well as collecting revenues from local businesses, however, there has been no developmental vibrancy.

The former Lawmaker noted that it is evident that Nassir cannot account for the over 30 billion shillings he has received so far from the National Treasury with Mombasa residents missing critical development projects up to the very grassroots level.

According to Mbogo, there is nothing tangible Mombasa residents have received but only empty promises and alot of public relations gimmicks from Nassir.

“Most of the programs the Governor initiated have failed because of lack of proper planning or lack of proper information on how to execute such initiatives,” said Mbogo.

The politician disclosed that most Mombasa residents are angry with Nassir’s leadership that has denied them quality services.

“It is time we walk together as Mombasa residents to give Nassir only one term as Mombasa Governor because it is evident that he cannot deliver,” stated Mbogo.

The politician, further stated that Nassir has been offering employment in discriminatory manner, throwing a small number of the youth into a contractual ’Mombasa yangu’ project, where the few beneficiaries have gone without any pay.

“I do not need to further explain what is laid bare in your eyes about Mombasa County pathetic leadership. These are the results of electing clueless leaders without any visions and whose education background is questionable,” noted Mbogo.

He reiterated the need for Mombasa residents to educate each other on the importance of electing responsible leaders with high level of integrity and who fully understand their mandates as leaders and who will be accountable to the electorates.

Mbogo has renewed his battle for the Mombasa County top seat in the 2027 general election.

According to the recent Auditor General’s report, Mombasa is among counties which spent little amount on development.
